Rapid growth and stunning beauty of its palmate, deeply colored leaves - sure to bring a tropical flair to any summer garden - are excellent reasons to chose this otherwise toxic plant for one's home garden .. but its ability to help deter moles and other burrowing creatures may be another.  The oil pressed from the seeds is non toxic however, and is used medicinally and as a component in natural paints, lubricants (such as the seals on our manual water pump) and even as fuel for oil lamps.
